I think a Montessori education is invaluable because of how unique it is. It offers a small classroom environment, with a low teacher-student ratio, allowing for each student to get individualized attention. Also, it allows each student to learn and grow at his or her own pace. A Montessori education also allows for great diversity, not only in the children that are your peers, but also in what you are exposed to, including music, arts and science. 

A Montessori education is an invaluable one. It focuses on developing and nurturing the whole child. One becomes aware of him/herself and others and learns to interact with others through kindness and respect. It encourages independence and individuality. The hands-on activities foster a deep understanding of concepts, and learning becomes a multi-sensory experience.

Montessori has impacted my life in many positive ways. It has instilled in me a love for learning and a desire to experience the world. It has also given me many, many sweet and happy memories.

Montessori has played a major part in my life. The hands-on approach to learning and critical thinking is an asset I use in my current position of lesson development for the 4-H Youth Wetlands Department at LSU. Because of the lessons I learned, I'm able to bring components of Montessori to children all over Louisiana that may not get to have the same opportunities that I had in the hopes of promoting genuine interest in the world around them and how they can help!

My Montessori experience taught me to love learning…the greatest gift of my life. I am so grateful to my parents for sending me to MEC!

Montessori taught me how to effectively communicate with my peers in a mutually respectful way. I’m still working on my delivery to this day, but I don’t think I would be where I’m at without all of the extra time Mrs. Flaherty spent with me.

I attended MEC for my early education, and those years continue to mean so much to me. The Montessori focus on independence taught me to be resilient and to keep going, even when things didn’t come easily or when I didn’t get the answer right the first time. This lesson has guided me from my time at MEC and throughout my educational and professional journey. I am so grateful to MEC for providing an environment where education is founded in creativity, individuality, and perseverance.

One thing I learned in all my years of Montessori is that you cannot blame others for your own responsibilities or actions. My teachers at Montessori always held me accountable for my actions and greatly appreciate it because I can now hold myself accountable and push myself to do hard things.

MEC made me love math and see math differently. As a student, I would knock out all of my math activities on Monday and drag out my English/writing/language tasks the rest of the week. Today, I work in business operations and I still knock out all of my accounting/math based tasks at the beginning of the week because they are still my favorite. I can't submit without saying that I met my best friend on the first day of Pre-K at MEC and we went on to be college roommates and she was my maid of honor! (Christie Peaslee)

MEC’s 4-6th grade classes prepared me more for college than middle/high school did. The assigning of work plans taught me to pace myself and organize my time effectively.

Montessori will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s where I learned to believe in myself, manage my time, and work on my own with confidence. The Montessori method taught me how to love learning and take responsibility for my own growth. But most of all, it gave me friendships that feel like family—ones I know will last a lifetime.”

Montessori taught me, first and foremost, to be curious about the world around me: What kind of butterfly is that? Why do square roots work that way? What kind of fossils are in the rocks underneath my feet? On top of curiosity, Montessori taught me to seek knowledge for myself. Instead of relying on someone to present me with organized facts or learning, I felt empowered to find it myself, which made me confident in my own abilities and constantly open to discovery and insight. I always tell people how grateful I am for my Montessori education; I genuinely use it every day.

MEC showed me that there is always more than one way to finish a project , which helps me in my profession to think outside the box.
